Gold jewellery retailer reports increase in sales

Monday, 8th March 2010 (1456 views)
An award-winning gold jewellery retailer has reported a 50 per cent increase in sales during the period of the recent Dubai Shopping Festival, which ended on February 28th.

Pure Gold attributed this increase to the influx of tourists to the area during the time of the festival and also in-store promotions that were offered throughout the period.

Karim Merchant, managing director of the company, stated that consumers are becoming increasingly open to spending cash on fine jewellery if they feel that they are getting good value for money from their purchases.

However, Dubai is not the only country that has noted an increase in sales of fine jewellery - Pure Gold recently advised that there is currently a "huge" demand for gold jewellery in India due to growing consumer power and the nation's traditional affinity with the yellow metal.

Due to this demand, the company has stated that it hopes to open 200 stores throughout India within the next five years.
