Gold engagement rings 'popular in run-up to Valentine's Day'

Engagement rings, made out of 24-c gold, are proving to be particularly popular in the run-up to Valentine's Day, one jewellery store manager has noted.

Charla Hall of Baker and Baker Jewellers told the Marietta Times that the store has sold a number of gold engagement rings in the lead-up to the big day.

She added that she expects the gold jewellery retailer to be full of last-minute shoppers searching for a special something for their loved one this weekend.

Furthermore, those who visit the store will receive a rose to give as an additional gift to their significant other.

Ms Hall's comments follow a recent report, which predicted that gold wedding rings are set to be a key aspect in matrimonial proceedings in 2010.

A wedding trends forecast from The Knot magazine stated: "Taking a cue from the fashion runways, gold is the new metal for engagement rings and wedding bands".
