Dubai International Jewellery Week begins

Thursday, 5th November 2009 (3191 views)
This year's Dubai International Jewellery Week has been launched.

The event opened yesterday (November 4th) and sees over 300 firms showcasing a range of gold and other jewellery from around the world.

A daily Asian bridal jewellery fashion show will take place throughout the week, while workshops on how to make jewellery and several new collection launches will also be available for visitors to attend.

The event is being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Among those expecting to benefit from the fair are Italian jewellers, who have attended Dubai International Jewellery Week for the last decade.

According to the Italian Trade Commission, it is likely that this year's edition will strengthen the ties between Italy and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) when it comes to jewellery-related trading.

Chinese jewellery makers are also hoping to see increased business as a result of the event.

Trixee Loh, senior vice-president of the Dubai World Trade Centre, said: "Given this optimistic outlook [for the UAE], Dubai International Jewellery Week has attracted strong interest from many international companies."
