A piece of gold jewellery that had been owned by Marilyn Monroe has exceeded its estimate at auction.
The Examiner reports that a gold chain previously belonging to the actress went under the hammer in Las Vegas on Saturday (June 27th).
Julien's Auctions hosted the event at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, with a range of Monroe's accessories, household goods and other memorabilia on offer.
The gold chain had been given an estimate of $4,000 (£2,411) to $6,000 before the auction and the news source noted that it came with photographs showing Monroe wearing it.
However, it ultimately sold for more than ten times the predicted price at $63,000, including buyer's premium.
A gold pendant was recently designed by Zalemark Holding for a charity auction held to raise money for the Rolls-Royce Foundation.
The piece incorporated the logo of the Rolls-Royce Owners' Club and was aimed at those with a "passion" for cars.
