Gold watch recovered intact from the sea

A British man has been reunited with his gold watch, 67 years after it sank into the sea, reports World Tempus.

Lieutenant Teddy Bacon lost his watch whilst throwing a line to the shore from his ship, the HMS Repulse, in 1941.

Last year the harbour at Gibraltar was dredged and workers came across the gold Bulova Automatic.

At the time of losing the watch Mr Bacon made a full report to the deputy harbourmaster and surprisingly the piece of paper with his address on survived all the intermediate years.

The father of four is now 89 years old.

He said: "It truly was a miracle that I had been reunited with that watch after a lifetime.

"Now I wear it every day and it keeps perfect time, even after all those years in the water."

Just like Mr Bacon, Bulova is still around and has been making watches since 1911.
