Missy goes gold for birthday

Hip hop queen Missy Elliott stepped out this week in an outfit of gold to celebrate her birthday, according to thespectrum.com.

The multi-Grammy award winning music artist went to her party wearing a black and gold tracksuit from her Addias Respect M E Originals range.

She complimented tracksuit with a large, chunky gold necklace.

It was Ms Elliott's 37th birthday and 25 of her friends joined her at the Tao Asian Bistro for dinner and cake, the website reported.

Once the meal was done, the musician and entourage relocated to a VIP table in the moat area of the nightclub.

During the night, DJ Reach played a 20-minute set featuring all of her hit singles.

Last month, the artist won the Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the BET Awards in Los Angeles.

Ms Elliott's first album to be released in three years is due for launch this September and is titled Block Party.
