Gold ring returned to man Â… 47 years later

Thursday, 10th July 2008 (888 views)
A man who left school in 1961 has been reunited with his gold high school class ring, according to the Kansas City News.

Danny Claude Whitehead graduated from Del City High School 47 years ago and lost the ring when he was trying to fix his dad's car.

It was returned by Chris Estabrooks who found it among her father's metal detector discoveries. She made out Mr Whitehead's initials on the ring and contacted him after going through old yearbooks with the school's current principal.

Mr Whitehead, who now lives in Westwood Hills, Kansas said he was amazed it was still in such good shape.

Meanwhile, stolen Colombian gold ornaments found in storage sheds and a Winnebago van have being returned to the country, according to a report in the Guardian.

The haul was discovered by police searching the home of an Italian smuggler in south Florida.

They were among over 60 artifacts, some of which were more than 2,000 years old, flown to Colombia.
