Golden pearl wins Urart award

Friday, 9th March 2007 (7761 views)
Urart, designers of handcrafted jewellery, have gone one better than last year by triumphing at the Sixth International SouthSea Pearl Jewellery Design competition.

The award ceremony took place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on March 6th and the winning design, entitled the Henna, was fashioned from 18-carat gold, white and black diamonds and a 16mm pearl. It can be found in Urart's Anatolian Colours and Silhouettes collection.

Aiming to promote innovation in relation to pearl-infused jewellery designs from across the world, the event is organised by the South Sea Pearl Consortium and sponsored by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

Turkish designer Urart has been involved with various high profile events including the designing of the awards for the Orange Film Festival back in 2005.

A recurring theme incorporated into many of the designs created by Urart are the treasures of Antalya and representations of Anatolian civilisations which, coincidentally, is where the inspiration for the Orange award statuettes came from.
