Revellers sport gold to see in 2007

New Year revellers are set to wear gold to welcome in the New Year in Penang as part of the local festivities.

Gurney Drive could be transformed into a golden street as more than 100,000 people are expected to flock to the air in a range of golden attire in an event being organised by CreatiVision DC Sdn Bhd, reports the Malaysian Star.

The theme to welcome in 2007 is entitled "Everybody in Gold" and partygoers are being asked to cover themselves head to toe in a variety of golden cosmetics, costume and jewellery.

CreatiVision D.C. Sdn Bhd managing director Adelyn Lim explained that the best dressed could win prizes and that a number of photographers would be on the scene to capture those people making the most effort.

Party celebrations are due to start a 5pm but organisers have also planned a number of events throughout the day in order to ensure visitors are kept entertained. Activities include a fun fair, a carnival as well as a street soccer competition.
