Five gold rings designed for Xmas

Monday, 18th December 2006 (4175 views)
According to the old English song the Twelve days of Christmas, on the fifth day 'my true love' gave me five gold rings and an American jeweller sought to recreate this scenario with the creation of five new designs.

Worth a collective sum of $4,418 (£2,270), the rings feature different designs. There is a natural nugget design, rose gold band, braided white gold band, two-tone ring with a diamond and a Black Hills gold ring.

Co-owner of Robards Fine Jewelry in Auburn, USA, Herb Miller explained to the Auburn Journal that other metals were added to the gold in order to produce different colours for the company's collections.

Originally published in a book called Mirth without Mischief in the late 18th century, the Twelve Days of Christmas has grown into a popular song vocalised during the festive season.

The five gold rings given on the fifth day of Christmas refer to the first five books of the Bible; Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.
