Gold theft at London station

A collection of jewellery worth in excess of a quarter of a million pounds has been stolen from a visiting dealer at Euston station, London.

Police have said that the Oriental businessman was waiting in the food court before catching a train at the station at 18:45 BST last night, when the incident occurred when his lime green rucksack was stolen.

The rucksack contained a number of 18-carat gold rings set with precious stones including diamonds and are worth in excess of £265,000.

Responsible for policing all of London's railways, the British Transport Police (BTP) have urged anyone with any information about the theft to contact them. Detective Constable Mike Ganly, of the BTP stated: "We need urgent help to identify this individual wanted in connection with this theft."

The BTP have released CCTV footage of a man they would like to question in connection with the gold theft who was seen exiting Euston station to a nearby bus station.
