Gold consignment stolen from aircraft

After allegedly stealing a batch of gold ornaments, a Jet Airways employee was arrested in New Delhi, India.
Santosh Prasad is accused of stealing the gold consignment worth Rs 40 lakh (£47,353) from an aircraft, items that the police say they have now recovered.
The police have relayed that the gold was bound for a jewellers in Delhi from Mumbai and after not arriving on the Jet Airways flight, its loss was reported to police.
DCP (IGI) Naresh Kumar of the Delhi police remarked: "The chief of all the three wings gave a clean chit to all their subordinate employees. However, a sustained interrogation of the suspected cargo staff member gave us certain clues."
"The scene of crime was then reconstructed twice, in which every official was made to carry out their minute-to-minute activities. Then we found one of the staff missing," he continued.
Currently, India is being flooded with gold for the Diwali festival and the marriage season. Gold jewellers in the country are expecting to see between a 20 and 25 per cent growth in gold sales in the upcoming months.
