Japanese jeweller makes gold massager

Friday, 6th October 2006 (4149 views)
A jeweller in Tokyo has produced a 24-carat gold foot massager that it claims is better than the traditional green bamboo version, according to India's NDTV.

Ginza Tanaka's new design has a slightly higher price tag however, at 14 million yen (£63,000), and the item weighs around three kilograms - significantly more than the traditional type.

The company has said it also makes a silver version of the same massager with a price tag of around 600,000 yen (£3,000).

The jeweller claims its precious metal massager is better for you because it can improve the user's mental satisfaction as well as having the same physiological benefits.

A traditional Japanese massager is simply a curved surface made of the bamboo on which the user walks that is intended to relieve stress and improve the circulation of the blood and Ginza Tanaka's gold product is similar, if aimed at a more niche market.
