Monday, 24th July 2006 (4543 views)
An extensive collection of the queen's clothing and jewellery is set to go on display ay Buckingham Palace, to allow the many visitors to the royal residence's state rooms a glimpse of the monarch's wardrobe.

Opening this week, this exhibition will include some of Queen Elizabeth's finest jewellery, including a gold bracelet, studded with sapphires, diamonds and rubies, that features the letters E and P – for her husband Philip.

He had the bracelet made by Boucehron for his wife for their fifth wedding anniversary and the design also incorporates a rose motif and a naval insignia.

Other items on show include the Vladimir Tiara, set with 15 emeralds, and a pair of brooches given to the queen on her 18th birthday.

A display of some of the queen's dresses is intended to take visitors on a trail through time, as the difference in design and fashion is evident over the decades since the first exhibits from the 1940s.

The summer opening of the state rooms at the palace runs between July 26th and September 24th.
