Long lost ring discovered in garden

Monday, 10th July 2006 (4468 views)
A white gold ring that had been missing since 1969 was found in perfect condition in the garden of a house in Chepstow, the BBC reports.

The jewellery, believed to be worth between £450 and £600, was reunited with its owner Joan Coleman, whose late husband had given it to her 37 years ago as a silver wedding anniversary gift.

Ms Coleman lost the ring shortly after whilst doing the gardening and it remained missing until this week, when Terry O'Brien, the current owner of the house, discovered it on the grounds of the property.

Mr O'Brien contacted an extremely grateful Mrs Coleman, who is now 84, to find out if the white gold ring was hers and returned it to her promptly.

"It was very pleasing to see the smile on the face of a lady who genuinely had lost a treasured possession to be re-united with it," he told the BBC.
