Bucharest is counting down to the opening of its first centre devoted to trade in jewellery, gold, precious stones and metals, ACT Media News reported today.
The Diamond Gold International jewellery centre will open in two days' time, providing permanent premises in Romania for representatives of large international jewellery distribution and design companies.
In addition, the centre will become the only place where services relating to the handling and trade in precious metals or stones can be carried out, according to ACT Media's report.
The chairman of the centre, Mihail Pacioianu, told the source that he expected individuals to be able to buy precious metals from the centre under better terms than offered by pawnbrokers. Both retail and wholesale customers will be able to buy from the centre.
Jewellery buyers can expect to pay the same prices for goods in the centre as quoted in the seller's country of origin, Mr Pacioianu said.
Two Romanian trade bodies, the Diamond Gold Jewellery and the Precious Metals Employers' association, are behind the project.
