Clover jewellery for summer fashions

Tuesday, 23rd May 2006 (4134 views)
The four-leaf clover could be lucky for jewellery designers this summer as fashion has taken the symbol to its heart.

A change in fashion direction at the Cannes festival coupled clean, Japanese-inspired lines with classy jewellery from Paris designer Van Cleef & Arpels, which celebrates its 150th anniversary.

The Cannes glitterati will be identified as guests at a Marie-Antoinette party by a bracelet featuring a tiny four-leaf clover recognisable as a Van Cleef symbol reminiscent of the signature range 'Alhambra'.

The Californian designer Carl Blackburn is going for large gold pendants instead. He says that the clover, which has many positive associations in tradition and mythology, can be closely connected with love.

"Few symbols are more evocative for jewellery than the four leaf clover," enthused Mr Blackburn.

"The clover is an ideal symbol to show your loved one you know just how lucky you are," he added.

Supermodel and fashion designer Heidi Klum has centred a collection for Mouawad around diamond clover charms, commenting that the gesture of giving a good luck charm is "sweet and meaningful".
