Zale has reported a 2.2 per cent increase in total revenue for the third quarter, ending April 30th.

Over the third quarter the company, which sells a range of gold jewellery including rings, bracelets, pendants, necklaces and earrings, saw year-to-year date net earnings totalling $81 million.

Betsy Burton, acting chief executive at Zale said: "We are pleased with our performance for the third quarter, espeically the sales momentum we are gaining."

She went on to say that margins and expenses are also "in line with our expectations".

Looking forward to the fourth quarter, Zale expects comparable store sales to increase again.
