A New York jewellery designer has announced the launch of an extensive collection for children and teenagers, with pieces that complement the styles created for adults and 'mother and daughter' options.
Marichko, based in New York City, is a husband and wife enterprise. Japanese-born Mariko Pojer works with gold, silver and gems, and is behind the new collection. Her pieces are made by combining precision mechanical engineering techniques and traditional craftsmanship to create quality affordable jewellery.
Her work is sold in top galleries and museums worldwide, including La Reine Margot in Paris and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
During the summer, Mariko encourages aesthetic and design sense in children by holding jewellery-making classes in the sculpture garden behind her studio.
Mariko says that the new collection, also called the Little Princess Collection, is intended for "kids who care about art, design and craftsmanship". The designs are priced between $45 and $685, for gold and diamond pieces.
