Monday, 15th May 2006 (3835 views)
A major new gems and jewellery park is set to open in Bangalore, India, according to the regions small industries and sericulture minister.

Katta Subramanya Naidu said that delegates from the All India Gems and Jewellery Association would be visiting the area on May 17th to discuss the Rs 15,000 crore investment.

He went on to say that the park would include facilities for jewellery manufacturing, including gold, diamond cutting centres, training units, a convention centre and malls for marketing purposes.

It is expected that the park would employ more than 70,000 people working in over 3,000 diamond cutting and jewellery units, producing an annual turnover of some Rs 10,000 crore.
