Rare Rolex on sale in London

A striped Rolex watch dating back to around 1930 goes on sale today (Wednesday, May 3) at London's Royal Academy of Arts. The Prince Brancard model is one of the rarest watches made by the famous Swiss company and the example that is on offer in the UK capital city is worth almost £20,000.
The sellers, Kleanthous Antiques, told Bloomberg that striped Brancard Rolexes only turn up once every two years or so and are always well received and much sought-after when they do become available.
A dealer from the company also said that the yellow and white 18-carat gold casing for the watch constitutes over a third of the value.
The standard design for Rolex watches, in particular the Prince model, consists of two dials on a rectangular face. The unique flared sides of the Brancard set it apart from other designs in the same range.
