Bakana adds a taste of Brazil

Thursday, 15th September 2005 (8990 views)
Bakana, a Brazilian accessories collection, will make its debut at the apparel trade show held in Washington DC's Fashion Week.

The jewellery is fashioned from silver and 18-carat gold plated wire, crocheted using a complex Brazilian plaiting technique, and interwoven with semi-precious stones, beads, and freshwater pearls.

Handbags also harness the same weaving technique and will feature in the collection alongside jewellery, purses, and accessories.

Founder Priscilla Stephan grew up in São Paulo, Brazil where she returned to locate talented artisans to incorporate into her venture.

Bakana's pieces can be viewed at both the Swimsuit Collections, showing at H20 today (September 15th), and at the International Collections showing at the French Embassy this Saturday (September 17th).
