In una cultura, quella italiana, in cui il fascino di certe tradizioni è rimasto inalterato nei secoli, il matrimonio rappresenta uno dei momenti di più alto valore simbolico. E all’interno del cerimoniale, lo scambio delle fedi è certamente il gesto più suggestivo. Fedi da indossare all’anulare della mano sinistra, dove - secondo un’antichissima credenza - passa la “vena amoris”, che arriva direttamente al cuore. Fedi d’oro, naturalmente. Il metallo più prezioso, per l’anello più prezioso - quello che lui e lei porteranno per tutta la vita.

In cultures, such as the Italian one, where the charm of certain traditions has remained unaltered throughout the centuries, marriage represents one of life’s most symbolic moments.  During the ceremony, the exchange of wedding rings is certainly the most important gesture.  The wedding rings are worn on the ring finger of the left hand where, according to ancient custom, the ‘vena amoris’ or ‘love vein’ passes on its journey to the heart. Given their importance, it is only natural that the wedding rings are fashioned from the most precious metal, gold, as they will be worn by the bride and bridegroom throughout their lives.

Se la regola consiglia alla sposa di non indossare altri anelli, proprio per mettere in risalto la fede, l’eccezionalità del momento suggerisce che orecchini e girocollo, estremamente essenziali e discreti nel design, siano preziosissimi. Per tradizione, spetta ai genitori dello sposo scegliere e regalare alla futura nuora la parure nuziale.
