A Golden Invitation
Whatever the occasion calls for, this season the fashionable solution looks best in gold

PAGE ONE:
Cocktails - Knee length ruched gold dress with wide gold belt - Dolce & Gabbana

For a classic silhouette that harks back to the Fifties and the hey day of the Cocktail Hour, look to Dolce & Gabbana's catwalk, and the first outfit on the runway: a metallic gold ruched bustier dress, cinched about the waist with a belt so broad it doubles as a corset.

Black tie - Full length gold sequinned- patterned dress - Alexander McQueen

A long slender dress, weighed down with an ingenious pattern of sequins designed to enhance every curve, is a smart change and a welcome relief from the barely there eveningwear that relies on flashing flesh to catch the eye. Alexander McQueen's glinting gold frock embodies an altogether more elegant sensuality.

At Home - Gold sequinned skirt, black/turquoise shirt with white print - Chanel

If a gold sequinned skirt seems just too much - think again. At Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld made it look youthful and a touch quirky, putting it with a filmy black blouse that was stamped with a white print, broken up with a slash of turquoise and finished off with a tie about the waist. The fabrics are dainty, but the message is on-trend eclectic.

More striking than the traditional suit-and-hat solution to dressing for a wedding, this dress has the volume of a coat (the pouffy hem and billowing sleeves) and the drama of an evening dress (the sheeny fabric, the sequins, the bold collar) - tricked out in gold, it's the perfect combination.
