22. THE "VISIONS OF DUBAI"

Although not legal tender, the "Visions of Dubai" is the first souvenir gold coin in the Gulf. The coin, the first coin of its kind is launched in the Middle East and it is planned to be launched in the Indian sub-continent shortly.

Launched by the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) and the World Gold Council, the series of gold coins is a valuable collection capturing the heart of Dubai, and reflecting the striving for excellent leadership and continuous innovation in the Emirate.

The first coin in the "Visions of Dubai" series will feature the image of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The Burj Al Arab, Dubai's iconic landmark is engraved on the other side of the coin.

The series of souvenir coins representing Dubai are produced in the emirate, to the specifications set by DMCC, by Emirates Gold, a local refinery mandated by DMCC and are sold exclusively by DMCC-licensed agents. Emirates Gold is an approved "Dubai Good Delivery" brand, and its bars are acceptable for delivery in the Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange, in India in the Multi Commodities Exchange and NCDEX, and in Turkey in the Istanbul Gold Exchange. The coins are 22 karat gold, and are available in 4 different denominations: 1 oz, ½ oz, ¼ oz and 1/10 oz

Distribution of the gold coins is exclusive to licensed agents of DMCC to ensure consistent high quality. The "Visions of Dubai" gold coins are marketed through various channels, including banks, dealers, brokerage houses and coin dealers. It is also sold through retail outlets such as souvenir shops, airport boutiques, and jewellery stores within major shopping centres and markets, such as the Gold Souk and Dubai Duty Free. It is also distributed through the Jumeirah International Group.
