INTERVIEW WITH FRANCO PIANEGONDA
1-What were the main influences in Pianegonda decision to move into
creating gold jewellery?
"I started creating silver jewels, but in 2002 I decided to create
also gold jewels. I translate on gold creations the same values of
silver creations, transforming the most precious of metals into
design symbols and expression of emotions. It is top class
jewellery and gold fashion. Precious and exclusive research which
render unique the jewels of the new collection. Pianegonda
creations in gold appear softer, lit up by pavés of
diamonds, precious and natural stones, expressing the perfection of
the highest Italian craftsmanship. The fascinating colour of
natural stones is back: topaz, amethyst, quartz fumé and
green gold, characterise jewels having unique and styled shapes.
The Pianegonda jewels in gold are delicate objects of luxury that
should be lived every moment of your life."
2-What is the design inspiration behind the new gold
collection?
"The creations follow the inspirations and the inspiration reflects
when I see, for example, a man or a woman while they walk on a
street, an artistic building with particular and designed shape or
an architectural palace. Moreover, the new gold woman collection is
inspired by the 80's and expresses itself as the highest form of
design made by Pianegonda."
3-Who is the gold collection designed for?
"It's not important for me if Pianegonda clients are good looking,
rich and super fashionable! I don't care about this, because it's
not the target I refer to. I refer to a man and a woman who have a
strong personality, defined character, clear identity; they have to
be self- conscious and aware of their personal choice. I refer to
people who have the courage to take a decision - because they
express who they are - determinate and passionate, open minded and
a world-wide traveller, but with respect for the other cultures and
religions, too."
4-Do you intend bringing out other gold collections?
Exactly! Every year I create a new collection (both in silver and
gold); and the most successful jewels of the past years become
historic pieces and they enter into the Franco Pianegonda Gallery
Collection. This year I create a very "Characterial" collection
expressing all the personality of a man who wears this: that's why
I called the collection Character".
5-What do you personally feel about gold - do you like 'working'
with it?
"I love working with gold! The colour of gold I work with is
vibrant yellow: it's the most malleable of metal and it's very easy
to mould. The exquisite artisan workmanship guarantees an elevated
quality of Pianegonda, made even more precious by the uniqueness.
In fact, every creation, which is studied, realized and projected
in every particular detail, renders every piece unique and
original."
