DIMA
Cairo-based designer-jeweller Dima Rashid, turning towards an all gold look, believes that today’s gold jewellery should be passed from mother to daughter. She takes a sophisticated, fashion-forward ethnic route, working in creamy coloured gold, recalling ancient Egyptian ornaments, layering sensual movement, heavily textured surfaces, jangling clusters of gold beads, that take the place of gemstones. She has also revived the 80s use of massive gold coins, taking gold back to its roots. “I am mesmerised by the effect of gold on the skin, the glow and warmth it adds to our bodies.”
