Collection Mehr-un-Nissa

21. MEHR-UN-NISSA

The Mehr-un-Nissa collection celebrates the glamorous jewelled arts of the Indian sub-continent during the age of the Mughals. The collection evokes the brilliance and grandeur of the Mughal Empire, which was in its prime during the 16th and 17th centuries. The wealth and the informed patronage of the Mughal court produced an environment in which the decorative arts flourished. The artisans drew upon a vast repertoire of traditions in architecture, painting, ceramics, textiles and jewellery

The artistic heritage of many of the designs of the Mehr-un-Nissa collection can be traced to ancient India as well as to Central Asia and China. Each piece of jewellery is crafted by hand in Bangladesh, using century-old designs and techniques. The collection not only represents superb and old craftsmanship, but also intends to help sustain these skills which have almost become extinct and which are rarely accessible. All the pieces are made individually. These designs, are works of arts and can be enjoyed today and cherished for generations to come.
