AuDITIONS India

During the grand finale of AngloGoldAshanti’s AuDITIONS Gold Jewellery Design Competition, the best of Indian glitterati took centre stage to celebrate in the delight of the winners from the glowing Indian Chapter of the internationally coveted jewellery design competition. The show which took place at the Hilton Towers in Mumbai was presented by AngloGold Ashanti and the World Gold Council in association with D’damas and the Rand Refinery Limited. The ‘Ethno Contemporary’ theme for the competition has ignited some of the best creative minds in India to craft a staggering collection of designs that has fused India’s rich past and bright future. Gold Inspirations congratulates all the finalists and previews here the very first time, the three wining finalists together with the finalist winner of the Audience Choice Award. Radhika Mahesh Jhalani was awarded the first prize. Her winning collection was inspired by the heady combination of the fully ripened gold alphonso mango and the brilliance of the summer sun. Second prize went to designer Raghunath Jana, whose collection was inspired by the natural beauty of creepers. Third prize was awarded to Krishma S.Jain, whose design is intended for women who value their traditional roots, yet dare to experiment with the contemporary. As an extra touch to the golden evening, the guests also participated in the judging in the ‘Audience Choice Award’ sponsored by D’Damas, by voting for their favourite entry. This prize was awarded to Reema Gangwal who took the traditional Indian “dupatta†and added a reflective quality to it by using gold chains. AngloGold Ashanti AuDITIONS is a global brand, which has been created to house AngloGold Ashanti’s gold jewellery design competitions. This Indian competition is the newest addition to the AuDITIONS family, with competitions already well established in South Africa and Brazil. AngloGold Ashanti AuDITIONS India will be featured in Gold Inspirations as part of a special AuDITIONS Focus later on in the year. All the pieces featured have been created for the competition and are for exhibition only. For further details please contact: First Prize Designer: Radhika Mahesh Jhalani, Mumbai The combination of the fully ripened golden alphonso mango and the brilliance of the summer sun was the inspiration for the creation. This is realised in the interaction of positive and negative space. Second Prize Designer: Raghunath Jana, Kolkata The design is inspired by the natural beauty of creepers. This theme is extended with the entwining of the jewellery around the neck, thus using the natural beauty of the piece to enhance the beauty of the wearer. Third Prize Designer: Krishma S. Jain, Bangalore This design is intended for women who value their traditional roots, yet dare to experiment with the contemporary. These pieces are a combination of form, rhythm and vibrancy, blending wood with white and yellow gold. Audience Choice Award Designer: Reema Gangwal, Aurangabad The design takes the traditional “dupatta†and adds a reflective quality to it by using gold chains. This produces a fashionable look that is enhanced by the mango designs.
